The central feature is a raised patio with built in seating, perfect for summer.

A new build house near Swanpool with another blank canvas for a back garden. We love the process of design and build and working with the clients to achieve a stunning end result, especially when it is such a change from the original rectangular lawn! We decided on Indian sandstone paving and cropped granite walling as the golden tones in the granite complimented the paving. This made for a fantastic background for the planting.

There are two entrances into the rear garden, one from the kitchen and one from the living room. The clients didn’t want any lawn area, and also wanted to connect the entrances as well as having a seating area.

We created a raised main patio area to catch the best of the sunshine, with a pergola to make it seem like you are entering an outdoor room. We installed a built-in seat using matching sandstone paving on the rear granite wall for increased seating options. We connected both entrances from the house with staggered paths to make the journey more interesting, and of course to make really interesting shapes for the planting beds too!

The clients wanted low maintenance planting so we chose plant species accordingly, as well as using stone chippings as a mulch. As the planting matures it will balance the hard landscaping to fill in the beds with foliage and colour. A trio of sandstone balls complete the water feature to add interest and colour.
